The Philosophy - Fun with Writing!Students develop into a community of imaginative writers, inspiring and supporting each other as they develop their own unique writing voices. This in-depth program strengthens kids’ ability to express themselves through writing, whether inside or outside the classroom.
All students are welcome, from the reluctant to the enthusiastic. All games and exercises can be adapted to kids of varying abilities, ages and interests. Positive experiences with writing can become wonderful tools for combating writing “phobia.” Students work individually and in groups on important writing skills. Lessons include developing unique characters, organizing narrative structure, describing a setting with precision and transitioning smoothly between ideas. Students will practice story writing, poetry, personal narratives and expository writing while honing their own personal writing voice. While training their "writing muscles," kids are always encouraged to take risks while they explore their imaginations through writing. |

I want to spread the word about Ms. Skrivan’s awesome summer and after school camps. It is clear |
One thing I liked about this camp is that you write and then you go outside and run around and then you write some more. We had fun and silly writing that made me want to keep going. |
Ms. Skrivan... has some kind of magic going on there and we parents are lucky to have her as a resource. She is an amazing teacher. |
